5-HTP has links with symptoms of low mood and depression which can commonly lead to a multitude of issues with sleep.

5-HTP is a natural, isolated nutrient extracted from the Griffonia seed. It is the precursor to the ‘Happy hormone’ serotonin (5HT). 5-HTP goes through a decarboxylase process within the body to be converted to serotonin. Serotonin plays a vital role in your biochemistry as not only does it help regulate mood but at night it is converted into melatonin the ‘sleep hormone’ to aid in a deep restful sleep.

Therapeutic administration of 5HTP has been shown to be effective in treating a wide variety of Conditions including depression, fibromyalgia, disorderly eating, chronic headaches, insomnia and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)

  • 5-HTP must not be taken alongside pharmaceutical anti-depressant SSRI's. Doing so may lead to serotonin syndrome

  • 5_HTP should be taken with a high-quality B-vitamin supplement to reduce homocysteine buildup. homocysteine is a by-product of serotonin metabolism.
